The Sullivan Family Scholarship Concert

Dan and Venita Burch, along with two of their talented private studio students, spent this past weekend in Durango, immersing themselves in the Sullivan Family Scholarship Masterclass and Concert. Their students, Gracelyn Kiker and Rachel Berndt (who took home third place in the contest), along with 23 other talented students from Durango and Oklahoma were able to sing prepared jazz standards for some of the best talents in the business!

Tim Sullivan, a regional country music singer and musician, along with his mother, Elizabeth Sullivan, a talented vocalist and songwriter, were present to encourage the performers during the two-day master class series. Tim’s sister, Broadway star, KT Sullivan, also gave tips and encouragement as the days progressed. Adding to the star-power was Natalie Douglas, award-winning recording artist and a fixture at Birdland in New York City. Jazz pianist and composer, Jon Weber, graciously accompanied and encouraged each student involved in the masterclass. The weekend culminated in a lovely evening of songs by KT, Tim, Elizabeth, Natalie, and Jon. Dan and Venita are so proud of their students for stepping out of their comfort zones to participate in such a challenging masterclass!
