Music - The Universal Language, Part 1
Music really is the universal language - a language we even share with plants! Did you know . . .
Research has shown that music helps plants grow bigger and healthier. While plants can’t listen with their ears, they do respond to the sound waves, which stimulate their growth!
Plants respond to different TYPES of music. For instance, research has shown that roses seem to respond best to violin music. Classical and jazz music seem to promote growth while metal music seems to to cause plant stress.
A research team from Tianjin Normal University in China conducted extensive experiments with plants and music. Maintaining a 60-70 decibel sound level, scientists playing “The Purple Butterfly” by Bandri, a soothing sound for the plants to “listen” to. They did this for five hours a day for seven days. The positive effect on the plants was immediate and impressive. The plants that were exposed to music had a 10% higher leaf growth and a much higher protein content! In addition, these plants processed light better.
So, start playing some soothing classical and jazz music to your plants and see what happens!
