Spring Recital is Just Around the Corner
How are you preparing?
With spring here and outside activities gearing up, it is easy to put our music practice on the back-burner. But with our spring recital coming up on May 17, now is the time to press forward for a successful showing. Here are some tips to help you prepare for the upcoming recital.
Hopefully, you are already into the groove of a consistent daily practice schedule. Be sure to continue that practice schedule. Consistent practice is key to successful musicianship! Even professional musicians and singers devote daily time to practicing.
If you have some more challenging sections in your performance piece, be sure to practice those individually. Remember, daily practice is NOT a performance. Rather, it is a time to perfect individual parts of a whole piece. You may spend an entire hour working on a few measures of music, and that is more than okay. Spend the time to perfect each section so that the whole song is ready.
Understand your song. Research what your song is about and why the composer wrote it. If there are lyrics, really listen to the lyrics and understand their meaning. This is important to your performance of the piece. Is it a sad song? A happy song? An uplifting song?
We can’t wait to see you all on May 17!
